Last month, I photographed this detached villa in Roelofarendsveen for Alkemade Makelaardij. The interior was designed under the direction of an interior architect, which resulted in a spontaneous and creative photo session.
What sets this home apart from others is its layout and interior design. First of all, the villa is divided into five levels. These split levels create a strong sense of spatial openness. In addition, the architect positioned interior walls at playful angles, meaning that rooms and spaces are more often non-rectangular than rectangular.
The layout makes this assignment particularly interesting. As an interior photographer, I strive for intelligent and carefully considered compositions. For the opdrachtgever, I created images with one key objective: to give viewers the clearest possible understanding of the layout. In a house like this, an image can either work very well — or not at all. Sometimes the difference lies in moving the camera just a few centimeters.
What I also appreciated about this project was that the home had been styled in advance by Ellen van Leeuwen. As a sales stylist, her preparation ensured that I could fully focus on capturing the interior photography.
