After nine years I photographed De Speeltuin of Hommerson Casino’s in The Hague for the second time. The venue has been renovated, and when I mentioned at home that I’d be photographing De Speeltuin (playground in Dutch), the kids immediately wanted to come along.
Beyond its eye-catching name, the interior itself is truly distinctive. The different floors are visually connected by a large open dome, with lighting that shifts in colour from minute to minute. From above, you can overlook a large part of the venue.
The images below were created for marketing and promotional purposes and form a selection from a larger series. In addition, the casino can be explored virtually via Google Maps Street View
Business risk management and the privacy of visitors and staff are perhaps even more critical in this industry than in others. For these and other reasons, the photos and virtual tour were created without people present. In addition, all images were carefully retouched to remove security cameras and sensors.
