The modern design of this newly built villa, with its light-filled interior, blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. The wooden façade cladding and the use of wood throughout the interior complement each other in a natural way.
With clear sightlines to both the front and rear of the plot, large windows blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors. The covered terrace further softens this transition.
Sections of the front and rear façades are clad with wooden slats, creating a natural appearance. At the covered terrace, wooden slats are used as both wall and ceiling finishes. Indoors, wooden wall cladding reappears in the living room and kitchen.
I photographed this villa, which was designed by Studio 110 Architectuur from Vinkeveen.
Architect Hans Klanker has previously written about key considerations when applying wooden façade cladding. Read an insightful article on his website: https://hansklanker.nl/houten-gevelbekleding.html
