Last week, I had the opportunity to capture a remarkable interior project: a beautiful herringbone floor extending across no fewer than four floors. The consistent laying pattern connects the levels and creates a strong sense of unity throughout the entire home.
As a professional project photographer, my focus goes beyond aesthetics alone. It’s about the story behind the design. In this project, the emphasis was on capturing cohesion: how the herringbone pattern connects the different levels, and how light, materials, and finishes come together as a convincing whole. Each floor has its own function and atmosphere, yet the flooring brings calm and consistency. That sense of spatial unity was exactly what I aimed to convey in this photo series.
My photography goes beyond documentation. It requires a strategic way of seeing and deliberate framing. My approach? A combination of wide shots and detail images, using compositions that emphasise the floor’s linear pattern. Wherever possible, I work with natural light, adding targeted lighting to reveal texture and depth without losing the atmosphere of the interior.
For designers, architects, interior builders, or flooring suppliers, high-quality photography is essential. It not only shows the final result, but also highlights craftsmanship and attention to detail. A carefully documented project provides visual material that can be used across a wide range of platforms—from portfolios and websites to social media and publications.
