For twelve months I photographed and filmed technical training sessions at Renault Academy Centre, on locations across the Netherlands. The year overview — photo set plus impression film — went out to dealer organisations and helped technicians weighing up a course to decide.
At an event or training there is no second chance. What I don't capture during the programme, I can't catch up on afterwards. Every brief starts with a conversation about what the image has to do, not about the technique.
For corporate events a photo set delivers versatile material for evaluation, recap and marketing. An aftermovie helps participants relive the programme and helps future participants decide. For ongoing programmes — training schools, academies — I sometimes build a year overview where months of work come together in one film and one set.
Twelve months of training sessions on different sites — diagnostics and electrical-fault repair, hybrid and fully electric drivetrains. I filmed and photographed technicians at work with lamps, wrenches and screwdrivers; the scenes that make the work concrete.
The impression film was used to give technicians at dealer organisations who were still weighing a course an honest impression of the programme. An argument for investing in your own footage, with real people.
