Virtual tours and 360° photography for heritage, hospitality and holiday rentals

Before and after the adaptive reuse, a 360° walk-through

Between 2008 and 2022 Kompastoren Mijdrecht — a 41-metre water tower from 1937 — was reborn as a workspace and event venue. With a 360° tour you see before and after, including the new lift shaft and the Kompas Café on the ground floor.

What a 360° tour does that photos don't

A photo set shows what the photographer chose to show. A 360° tour lets the visitor look around themselves — and that changes how they assess the space. For holiday rentals, hospitality and heritage, that's sometimes the difference between a booking and no booking.

Since 2017

I've worked with 360° photography since 2017. The tours are hosted via Kijk Virtueel — a Dutch platform with statistics, hotspots and interactive elements you can configure per space.

Case: before and after at Kompastoren Mijdrecht

Kompastoren is a former water tower from 1937 that supplied drinking water to Mijdrecht, Wilnis and Vinkeveen for nearly seventy years. Between 2008 and 2022 the building was rebuilt: large new windows on the east face, a complete new lift shaft on the south, extra floors for rent and the Kompas Café on the ground floor.

The 360° tour shows both states — the tower before the rebuild and the workspace-with-a-view it became. For the owner it became a calling card to attract renters; for visitors a way to see what they're walking into.
